Answers to frequently asked questions
BHR is a progressive (Reform) Jewish community. Reform Jews value the civil and intellectual achievements of modernity and emphasize the ethical content of Judaism. As a progressive community Beth Hillel recognizes equal rights and duties to women and men. In synagogue women and men share the same environment. Women can study to be ordained rabbis and can follow precepts that are traditionally reserved for men. Beth Hillel is also active in promoting minority rights and welcomes everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. LGBT + people and same-sex couples are therefore welcome.
