Our Community
We are a Progressive Jewish community affiliated with the World Union for Progressive Judaism, the European Union for Progressive Judaism and the Italian Federation for Progressive Judaism. We provide our members with a vast array of religious services including: celebration of Shabbat and holidays, observance of life-cycle ceremonies, Jewish education for all ages, cultural activities, Tikkun Olam projects (social and humanitarian support) and more. We operate a Talmud Torah school for children ages 4-18 including preparation for B’nai Mitzvah (for children as well as for adults).
As a Progressive Jewish congregation, Beth Hillel promotes equal participation in religious life for all our members, without discrimination regarding gender or sexual orientation.

Why we celebrate the Saturday?
«The heaven and the earth were finished, and all their array. On the seventh day God finished the work that He had been doing, and He ceased on the seventh day from all the work that He had done. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because on it God ceased from all the work of creation that He had done.» (Genesis 2, 1-3).
«Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God: you shall not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, or your cattle, or the stranger who is within your settlements. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth and sea, and all that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it. » (Exodus 20, 8-11).
