Beth Hillel's Rome cultural program

Aimed at a conscious belonging to Judaism, cultural activity, which is an integral part of the work of our community, is supported by in-depth and multifaceted information, aimed in particular at developing the issues that concern us more closely.
For us at Beth Hillel Rome it is important both to build a network of contacts with leading personalities from the cultural world, and to create the conditions to involve our public through creative, physical and artistic work. Our initiatives also follow an open tradition capable of continuous transformations.

Since our community was born – it was February 14, 2014 – we have carried out an intense cultural activity, aimed at our members and the people who follow us. The restrictions due to the health emergency from Covid 19 forced us to reshape the offer of religious services and cultural events in remote mode. We were afraid that we would not make it, that it would not be possible to keep a community together by communicating remotely through an impersonal videoconferencing software program. Instead, not only have we managed to overcome the obstacle, but we have intensified the offer of our services, in order to keep the community together. This sort of compensation for the social isolation imposed by the pandemic has also given rise to intense cultural activity since 2020, which is developed along five main strands:

  1. awareness and knowledge of the Jewish tradition;
  2. the past and present of the Jewish world in some of the countries of origin of our members;
  3. memory;
  4. workshop proposals with the active participation of community members;
  5. books and extemporary.
